I Love Phonics -
Three most common issues
1) When you first play the program you are on Level 1 and only one of the games will work until you complete this game to get to Level 2, more games become available as you work your way up through the levels. The first game available is called Rhymes and Sounds and can be reached by starting the program, getting into the Funhouse, clicking two times to the right or two times to the left, and clicking on the radio on the end table. If you would like all the games to be available rather than working your way up through the levels please do the following: When in the program click on the Mouse in the bottom Left hand corner. Click on Parents Click on the Options Tab Double click on Step by Step Double click Step 1 Double click Lessons and Games Click on the Red back arrow in the bottom Left corner Go through Steps 2 to 5 to make sure all are set to Lessons and Games Click on the "X" in the upper right of the Options Window ---------------
2) If you are having problems hearing the sound in the game, or it is corrupted or weird, this has to do with QuickTime which runs the Video and Animation. All we need to do is change a couple of settings in the QuickTime program and it should solve the problem. To do this: Click on Start Go to Settings Click on Control Panel Look for and Double Click on the QuickTime Icon (you may have more than one icon for QuickTime, but we are looking for the icon with the Blue Q) In the window that appears it will say About Quicktime with a drop down arrow - Click on the drop down arrow Select Sound Out from the menu that appears Click on the drop down arrow next to Direct Sound and select Wave Out (if you have more than one option for wave out you will want to select wave out- (the name of your sound card)) Click on the drop down arrow for Rate: and select 22.050 KHz Click on the drop down arrow at the top of the window next to Sound Out and select Video Settings Change the selected item from Options to Safe Mode (GDI Only) Now that you have made these changes the software should run without a problem. -----------------------
3) This program does not have a setup and runs only from the CD. Please insert the CD. If the program does not automatically start do the following: Double click on the My Computer icon Double click on the CD-Rom icon, it should be labeled "I Love Phonics" If the program does not start, but a window appears with all the files and folders on the CD. Double click on the file Phonics.exe
